I would like the option to have Multiple Voicemail Boxes so each person in my household can have their own box with their own greating and also when they get voicemail it send the notification to their email address...

So I could have a greeting that plays when a call comes in as:

"You have reached the Smith Residence. Press 1 for Mike, Press 2 for Bob Press 3 for Sarah" they press 3 then Sarahs greeting plays

"hey you have reach Sarah I'm out partying leave yo message after the beep" BEEP

I want to throw my support for this in as well. I don't know if any of the other VOIP providers offer this as a free service. If not, this could definately be a "killer feature" for ViaTalk.

I would like multiple mailboxes as well. This is a basic feature that the land lines offer that most Voip lines dont.

Although I would never use this feature, I am sure ALOT of people would, and is a good idea.

I would love this feature. I get so tired of filtering voicemails and fowarding them to the appropriate person via email.

Oh I would have to agree on this matter, for the Multi-Box Voicemail, Some may use it for other in the household. Where I would use mine for the following which makes allot of since.

1. Anonymous callers would get a prerecorded message the way you want them to hear it.
2. Under the tab where it says Custom Call Routing you would be able to have a message played the way you want for the following: blocked, blacklisted and stopcalling without it droping into voicemail, Just a prerecorded message is all that is needed for these.

Even tho there default is good, it would be nice to have your own!!!!

Instead of the default messages it gives now.

Just switched to VT and so far I am impressed 100%, used to be with Vonage for 3 yrs, and tried out Sunrocket, now I am here for the 1yr now to see how good it stays

Just switched from packt8. This was a big request over there also. I'd love to see VT rollout this feature even if there is a charge.

Don't do this. Then I won't receive any voicemails at home since all the calls are for my wife! Haha.

I agree, multibox voicemail would be great. Especially with Primary number having one box and virtual number having another.

I agree, it would be useful.

However, even more useful, would be a related feature that's been proposed (in a different thread), where you are allowed multiple VM greetings. And while normally only the default (1st) VM greeting is played, you would be able to choose which greeting to use if/when you use the "Custom Call Routing" feature to pick an alternate VM greeting to use (for a specific inbound phone number).

For example, suppose I'm going away and don't want t leave full details as to how to contact me to everyone who calls. But I do want to let a particular person know how to reach me. In that case, I could just put that person's phone number into my "Custom Call Routing", and send it to a specific VM greeting containing a pre-recording message customized to that caller alone. This would IMHO be very handy, if VT were to add that feature to their VM system!

DracoFelis: You can already do that. Go to Voicemail Options and then down to Custom Voice mail. Only one custom voice mail greeting can be recorded though, I believe. Your custom voice mail greeting is different than your standard voice mail greeting.

That's a good idea. I usually don't have the time to go online to check my voicemails. That's why I still have an answering machien attached to my phone. But sometimes viatalk's voicemail system will still pick up the voicemail. And so sometimes I miss people's calls and won't even know about it.

Open a ticket and ask them to turn off VM, or set your ring sec. to infinite.

I'll even take this one step further..
If we can have multiple voice mail boxes, it would be nice to do a call hunt per mailbox. For example, if someone is calling me, then it will try my cell and if they are calling my wife, it will hunt to her cell..

I wouldn't use it either but think it's a wonderful feature as long is those of us wanting the simple approach can still have it without it making any interface more complicated as a result.

I dont wanna check the VM just to find out that all the messages are for the wife:rolleyes:

Count me in on this one. But it has to be something that can be enabled/disabled as not everyone would want this. If this were to be implemented, it would also need to have a separate configuration for e-mailing of vmail attachments. I would not want to be e-mailed attachments for my wife's vmail and vice versa.

efrost
05-06-2007, 06:27 PM
I agree.. if there are separate email boxes, then each box would basically need it's own CP for call handling features.

jnuzzi
05-07-2007, 09:11 AM
Which "features" are you referring to?

I think the email/SMS/etc. notification is the only thing that would be configured for each mailbox. The only features that could be mailbox specific are the ones that take effect after the caller enters the VM system. That is the only time that you would know which mailbox the caller selected.

BTW, I would love to see this feature!

efrost

I was referring to a call hunt for the specific mailbox. So if a call comes to my mailbox, I can configure a call hunt for my cell, and if a call goes to my wife's mailbox, she can do a call hunt to her cell.
In addition, each mailbox should have it's own custom greeting, call log, etc.. so a sub-CF would be nice or each mailbox.

jnuzzi
05-07-2007, 09:46 AM
hmm... I am not sure that this would be easily implemented. All of those features that you mentioned, with the exception of the greetings, are implemented before the caller gets into the VM systems. Only after they caller gets into the VM system would you know which mailbox they are trying to reach. It seems that you are looking for a virtual number with it's own set of features.

efrost
05-07-2007, 12:47 PM
not sure how easy it is to implement, but it was just a wish list.
problem with a virtual number is that my wife and I would have different numbers, which really isn't the most ideal solutions, but a virtual number would do the same thing.

I can't imagine it would be too difficult to create sub-mailboxes. Have the callers come in to one central mailbox and press the respective number to get into a customized mailbox... i.e. Press one for mom, two for dad, three for the kids, etc...

...Oh. And maybe if there are virtual numbers on an account, they can automatically map to the sub-mailboxes... i.e. virt# 1 goes to mom, virt#2 goes to dad, virt#3 goes to kids.

Yeah. This would be nice, but I'd settle for real "distinctive ring" instead of the crappy cell-phone like "per caller" ringtone...

Good luck even getting ViaTalk to read posts. The last time ViaTalk addressed requests was in May of 2007 by sbradshaw. Read the first thread in the ViaTalk Feature Requests and Suggestions Forum.
