I found on Voxilla forum (http://voxilla.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-6832-highlight-viatalk.html) that ViaTalk blocks access from non-US IP's
I'm logging in from overseas, and they apparently firewall every non-US IP by default.
Is it true?
I travel a lot and most of my business trips are abroad. Sometimes I spend out of US a month or more, and I change my locations (and IP's of course) almost every day. I plan to take my ViaTalk ATA and connect it everywhere I stay. Is it possible?
I have heard that they block alot of non US based IP addresses.
I think you can submit a support ticket asking about the particular country you will be traveling to and asking about it.
You can also setup an Asterisk box, and connect through that.

It would be a good idea if ViaTalk customer support worked not so bad. You can wait for their answer for a week or even more. I can move to another country for that time.
Actually, I don't understand why do they set that limitation.
You can also setup an Asterisk box, and connect through that.Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with Asterisk yet. Thank you KLH for the idea. I will learn it.
Talking about ViaTalk I would say that it would be one of the best company in that field if they open access from abroad and, of course, improve their customer support to acceptable level.
Their exhisting feature "ViaTalk priority support is a $1.95/month upgrade that provides you with direct access to the viatalk customer service team via both the phone and the web without having to wait in any call or ticket queues along the way."could be described by the formula: working worse - making more money"
In fact, that is a hidden increase of the cost of ViaTalk service.
If you are wanting to learn Asterisk, I would try www.trixbox.org which was formally called Asterisk@Home, but switched names recently.
It makes setting up an Asterisk box so much easier, and if you have any questions about it, you can post here on these boards, or on their boards.
