I would like to have the ability to block calls not only based upon the phone number but also just based upon the caller id name field. Some organizations have a variety of different phone numbers that appear but a consistent caller id name so, it would be much easier to just block that caller id name.

Interesting.....good spinoff to the exchange blocking suggestion. Although personally, I have not receive many calls with the same ID. How many different numbers do you think you've receive calls from with the exact same ID?

For me there is one particular caller I would like to block. I had a credit card number stolen and among the other things purchased with it the thief ordered some porn. Ever since every couple of weeks we get a call from someone trying to sell us porn. I have been unable to get them to remove my number from their phone list. Each time they call the phone number is different but the caller id name is the same.

I had carnival cruise line calling me every week to tell me about their specials.. Luckily for me, it was the same number always calling (must of been the same person). However, I am sure that a place like carnival cruise line has more than one number.

I would never answer the phone when I saw them calling, then eventually I put them on my "stop calling" list. I looked at the call logs, and saw that they called, then called right back again, I guess to make sure they got the right number. They never called again after that from what I've seen on the call logs.. Call blocking is a nice feature that I absolutely LOVE, and can now not live without!

Call Blocking by name would be great. I have Disabled American Veterans calling me tonight. They've called 4 times already each with a different phone number.

Okay, now I would really LOVE to have this feature available. I'm not getting called by "Fresno CA" that I would like to block.
The last 2 digits have been anywhere between 06 & 21, and who knows what other ones in the next few days...

Call blocking by name would allow one to block those businesses that conceal their identity by programming their PBXs to transmit "Unknown" or "unavailable" or even "error". I've received them all and they can drive one nuts!! PLEASE

Functionality like this could be really powerful if (beware, the geek in me is coming out) it supported a regex (regular expression) evaluation option.

That way if a business has primarily the same name on their outbound calls, but some minor variances, someone who is familiar with regex could easily set up a single pattern to catch them all.

Other, more user-friendly options could be operators like "starts with", "contains", etc.

The user will need to be careful not to paint with too broad a brush, lest they accidentally block/route calls they didn't really intend to.

While this is an old thread, I think it is a good idea. I get a lot of "800 Service" calls.

Totally agree. We definitely need an expanded set of filtering tools.

This feature is being seriously considered for future release, however, at this time we do not have any ETA as to when this may be released. It could be a month from now, it could be 6 months.

This feature is somewhat of a low priority compared to some of the other pending features but rest assured, we've heard your requests and will continue to develop this for future release.

Yes this would be great. I am sick of those 800 Service calls or the ones that say Unknown Caller and get through the anonymous call block. They are all trying to sell something or other. And about a handful keep calling for someone that doesn't exist.

Call Block based upon the Caller ID name field would be a nice touch.

Yes, I agree. I am so tired of the 800 Service Calls and they always seem to call at the wrong time. (I guess there is no good time for them to call anyway!)
Looking forward to these new features.
