I just signed up for the BYOD 2 year plan for $199 and have an SPA-3000 I wish to use. I've gotten it mostly set up and get dialtone but incoming callls aren't going to my phone. If anyone could post a how-to with this device that would be great.

For my SPA-2100, I just reset everything to default and entered the info they gave me. I'm assuming you entered your active phone number?

It sounds to me like the problem is on ViaTalk's end. I would think that if you get a dialtone, your end is set up correctly.

I factory reset my SPA-3000 and reconfigured the device. Outgoing works perfectly, incoming gets the message that this # isn't answering.

I was reading on DSLReports VoIP forum that even provisioned ATA's were having this problem although they were being resolved by support. I hope they can help me even though I'm BYOD.

I did call in and create a trouble ticket but they are getting slammed and haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

I've been over on DSLReports a lot, so here's my understanding of the situation:

There apparently were some problems where ViaTalk had setup their end for a given server, but than told the customer a different server. The result was that incoming calls to you weren't working, because VT was sending them to the wrong server. However, I haven't heard of that still being a problem, now that VT lets you pick your server from their web portal.

However, another issue to watch for is your router/firewall. Depending upon how you have your router and VoIP adapter setup, it's sometimes the case that the packets that represent incoming calls are blocked by your router/firewall (that incorrectly assumes they are in inbound attack from the internet). When this happens, this can result with any VoIP (not just ViaTalk's) having outgoing calls working without allowing incoming.

If/when this happens, the usual "fix" is to forward the ports for the VoIP to your adapter. By doing that, inbound calls frequently get much more reliable. Which ports need "forwarding" varies with the adapter being used, and how it is setup. But FWIW the default ports (if you haven't overrided them) that need forwarding (at your router) for most LinkSys/Sipura VoIP adapters are: UDP 5060, and 16384-16482.

My friend and I are planning a trip to Santa Barbara and/or San Diego and we want to spend a night or two at a hot springs spa, or at least stay somewhere less expensive and hit a day spa with hot springs. Any suggestions? We're also heading to San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle . It's a "girlfriends getaway" to de-stress from our jobs & families! We're going during winter 2009.

This website is Great! I will recommend you to all my friends. I found so much useful things here. Thank you. Here is a joke: A guy walks into a shoe store and asks for a pair of size 8 tie Jordans shoes (http://www.oknike.com/) . The salesman says, "But, sir, I can see from up here you're at least a size 11." The guy says, "Just bring me a pair of size 8 tie Jordan shoes (http://www.oknike.com/)." The salesman brings them, the guy stuffs his feet into them, ties them tight, and then he stands up, obviously in pain. The salesman just has to ask, "Sir, why must you have these undersized Air Jordans (http://www.oknike.com/) shoes?" He says to the salesman, "I lost my business and my house, I live with my mother-in-law, my wife is screwing my best friend, my daughter is pregnant, and my son is gay. The only pleasure I have in life is taking off these damn shoes."
