I don't have my unit yet, so I am not 100% sure this isn't an option (but I've been told it's not) - with some of the other providers, you can control your virtual number through the management webpage - have it redirect to a different number, etc. This feature through ViaTalk would be very helpful for me.
Also, how about distinct ring for virtual numbers?
Please, correct me and tell me that VT already has 1/both of these features :)

We do have the option to forward your virtual number to any domestic US number you'd like. It's definitely a great feature. Although you cannot do this via the control panel with a virtual number, you can call in or submit a ticket on our website and have that done very easily. With your main number you can use the control panel to set forwarding settings though. We currently don't offer distinctive ring, but I know we have gotten some requests in the past and I definitely think it's something that will be looked into in the future.

Hey Allen,
Thanks for the reply. I was told you could have this done by support (although I haven't yet). I would still love to see this as a user-configurable option instead of having to go through support if it's possible, as people may like to redirect on a more immediate/frequent basis rather than using support.
Just my suggestion/request :)

VTAllen,
I know this thread is pretty old but I wonder did something change in the past year that would eliminate this option? I was told yesterday that this option you provided is not available. I would ask, is this true? I know VT has taken on alot of new employees to handle the new SR people so I wonder did something technical change on your end or am I getting the run-a-round from newbies that don't know they can provide this option for the customer?
If this is not an option any longer please consider removing this thread as it does contradict the current policy/capability and gives a lot of false hope to those of us that found it.
Thanks.

It is odd that ViaTalk does not offer Distinctive Ring as it is an advertised feature on the main website where it is trying to get people to sign up with ViaTalk:
The following service is included with all ViaTalk service plans free of charge. ViaTalk is re-writing the rules for phone service flexibility and ease of use.
viatalk phone features - Distinctive Ring
This is one of the reasons I choose ViaTalk (that and I thought that the "second line" had the same features that the main line has. Who would have thought that a "second line" only meant two people can talk on the phone at once. This too was misleading and should be explained better in the selling portion of the website).
It took so darn long to finally get my service up and running and my numbers ported so I really don't want to have to switch to yet another company. But I am having serious buyers remorse because many of the features do not work the way one would assume they would.
Oh well...I am trying to be positive and hope that with all the new users maybe some improvements to the system will be in the near future.

Viatalks implementation of Distinctive Ring is like "ring-tones" on your cell. Your girlfriend rings different from your wife...<LOL>
