I was wondering what type of traffic is counted towards bw usage?
Thanks,

As far as I know, and maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, it's anything that's transferred from your site. All HTML pages, for example. As well as any files that you allow your users to download. If you link to someone else's webpage, their content does not get added to your bandwidth. If you link to a file on someone else's webpage for the user to download, that gets counted in their bandwidth. That's called Bandwidth Stealing and is generally frowned upon.

Its not neccesarily frowned upon. Its just 'hotlinking' and can easily be stopped. Its generally better to link to the other site so that people know where the file is coming from (some users know already, others don't notice :b)

"Its not neccesarily frowned upon."
It's always frowned on. And you'll be unhappy with the results if you get caught.

What consequences? Hotlinking is completely legal. (If you mean 'linking' to files on another webserver. I.e. say you're hosting 'filezilla' and i link to it.. its completely legal.
Now it is nice to be a gentlemen and host it yourself - but some people don't have the bandwidth sometimes.

"What consequences?"
People will see the image requests in their log files. Then they'll replace the image with something unpleasant. So you'll go to your page some time and find porn splashed all over it. It's that cool?
