Between the two accounts I manage here I've been around quite a bit and have always found account upgrading to be smooth and sensible. I've probably upgraded 3 times between the 2 accounts.

Now I'm trying to upgrade an account from the 24-month pay period gigasale to something with 2 gig of space. My first attempt was to snatch the RocketOne offer that's expired daily for the last couple weeks. I was told I could upgrade to that plan, but wouldn't get the extra gig of space (no real reason given.) Not really sure why I'd do that, other than a lower bill... eventually.

Well, since space is the order of the day I replied saying that, if that were the case, we'd like to move that account to the RocketTwo plan so I can have 2 gig of space to play with.

Well, we have 7 months of gigasale left (at same monthly rate as RocketTwo) but now I'm being told I can't just upgrade (as has always been the case in the past) but have to pay for the next two years minus credit for what's left on the current plan.

Well, this account is for a business, and they're not interested in throwing $200 into this fiscal calendar year for the upgrade - there's a reason its payment lands after April.

When did the upgrade policy become so complex and restricted? I have no problem with the setup fee... but I'm kind of disappointed that this isn't going as smoothly as it has in the past.

Anytime you change your plan, they bill you for the entire amount, then give you back what you already paid.

Maybe you should try a 1 yr plan instead of a 2, or go 6 months.

Well, the previous times I've upgraded, if the rate was the same (or lower) they've charged only the setup fee, converted my remaining time to the new program, and charged me as normal when that time ended.
