long story my sister got laptop from on line auction it said needed os but powers up I have installed os before many times how ever they were always formatted this on comes with just a picture of a cd player and a disk drive no clue on this one where do I start :rolleyes: :(

Do you know what the specs are,
like processor, memory ect.
That will help determine what OS to install.
Does it have a Floppy drive? CDROM, Both?

300 mhz 128 ram 5 gb cd rom it an IMB think pad 600

Seems like Windows98 would be a good choice for that hardware.
If you have a CD of Win98, pop it in the cdrom, and boot it up.

yeah, i think that just barely gets the xp minimum reqs. if you cant get a hold of win98, maybe try linux.
