I need to force a file to delete. I tried to delete it and I get a dialog saying that the name is invalid or too long. So I tried to rename it shorter and I got the same dialog message.
Is there any way to do this? Can I force it to delete?
Perhaps DOS commands?
I'm not sure. I've never encountered this before.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan.

you know, i use a program called "cute file shredder"(free) which will delete a file permenantly almost always. I've had trouble with it once, but i eventually deleted the file in safe mode. Have you tried safe mode? if so, i'd try cute file shredder, you can probably get it at tucows or download.com. hope that helped.

Awesome.
But earlier today I simply attempted to delete the folder the item was in, and it worked. But this is great information!!
Thanks a lot!

FYI - using DOS you could delete the file by using a wildcard at the end.
Example: to delete "thisfileisway too longand has spacesandis hardtodelete.exe"
Command: del thisfile*
