A few questions

I have a few questions about ViaTalk:

1) At this time, VoIP remains unregulated, yet many companies are charging "Regulatory" fees on VoIP. What fees will be charged and how much?

2) What will the prices be/when will they be availible? Will their be many plans or just one with unlimited domestic and great international rates, like Cablevision's Optimum Voice?

3) Will you have all area codes availible? Will I be able to get a local area code?

4) What equipment will be necessary to use pre-existing phones? Will HostRocket sell it, and, if so, how much is it?

5) When will we find out the worth of our ViaTalk coupons?

6) Speaking of codes, I gave out ALL 6 of my invites to my friends. I feel a little selfish to ask this, but is there any reward for doing so?

Alot of your questions have been answered at some point in time some place (not sure where all, but I will answer them from what I remember).


1. I don't think most or any charge "regulatory fees". Thats what land lines charge. Although I could be wrong, I don't think they will charge any additional fees. I don't think there is even any kind of tax on the service.

2. They have one starting at 9.95/month for I think 500 minutes, then for unlimited it is 14.95 I think a month.

3. I have no clue, but I would like to know! :)

4. There is hardware that you must/can purchase. Some people I think might get it for free with the viavite codes? I have no information on this..

5. I think they said in May.

6. I think if they sign up, or use the code, or something, you are entered to win prizes like an ipod or something.

I hope this helps you and others out some. Please note that I do not work for HR, and these are things that I have READ. Anything I've said may or may not be true. This is just what I have heard through the grape vine.

There will be no (read absolutly none) extra fees added above and beyond the monthly account price.

2) What will the prices be/when will they be availible? Will their be many plans or just one with unlimited domestic and great international rates, like Cablevision's Optimum Voice?

Basic plans will start at under $10 a month, unlimited plans will start at under $16 a month. International rates will be competetive with all other voip carriers.

3) Will you have all area codes availible? Will I be able to get a local area code?

We will have most major markets and add others upon request.

4) What equipment will be necessary to use pre-existing phones? Will HostRocket sell it, and, if so, how much is it?

The equipment needed is a small adapter that hooks into your phone line (or phone directly). Once you have that (which we provide) you can use any normal telephone.

5) When will we find out the worth of our ViaTalk coupons?

Most likely the week before our nationwide launch (which is when people with viavites will be able to preorder service).

6) Speaking of codes, I gave out ALL 6 of my invites to my friends. I feel a little selfish to ask this, but is there any reward for doing so?

If you gave out 6 and they were accepted, you have 6 entries into our drawings leading up to launch for all sorts of cool stuff, including iPod's & viatalk sweatshirts, free service etc.
