IRC and PHP

I am looking at a way to build an irc chat with PHP to be hosted on my Hostrocket shared space.

Anyone knows if HR has any irc module installed? Like ircg !

Also looking for tutorials for irc programming and PHP.

you'll have to go dedicated with IRC... too much of a security hole for shared hosting.

You can host a Java based IRC client on your shared account though if you wish as Java is client side and not server side.

I use PJIRC (http://www.pjirc.com/) myself: http://pjirc.viper007bond.com/

Ok then, I will go dedicated at the end of the summer. Will use HR build in chat for now, even though it is not in french.

As for Java, I thought about it but discarded it.

are you looking for a chat solution? Or do you want IRC specifically?

If you just want a nice fully featured chat server, you can check out VolanoChat at http://www.volano.com it's pricey, but I laid down the doe for it. Works flawlessly and very flexible too.
