You should run an IRC server on each host. And let users be able to access the server at irc.yourdomain.com. This way you would technically only be running one IRC server instead of one per account. Example:

irc.yourdomain.com would basically be a forward to host.hrwebservices.net. If it would be too much to offer for free it would be cool to have for maybe a small extra charge.

I agree, HR should have IRC so that we can use Jirc with our sites under irc.domainname.com. This will allow us a more professional chat to install on our sites. (-;

even just one IRC server would be fine in which all customers could use. But it would be cool if we could access it through irc.yourdomain.com so your visitors will think it is your own server. But if it compromises server stability and resources, etc. then forget it.

It's probably not worth it to them, too many DoS attacks to irc servers and you don't want that with the amount of hosting accounts they have. Maybe if they put an IRC server on a seperate machine than the hosting accounts it wouldn't be bad.

Of course I would love this considering I have been using IRC for 6 years now and I'm connected 24/7. (fubar on undernet or dalnet)...

yeah, putting it on a seperate machine would be the best option. But I really hate dalnet mainly because you have netsplits that happen all too frequently. A nice little server would be really nice for people use for their websites or just talk with other hostrocket customers realtime.

I say for a small extra charge because IRC servers with any popularity at all chew up bandwidth like there's no tomorrow.
