We should start taking bets on when they'll actually announce what VT_Unlimited actually is. I vote late 2010. :P

You think it will be that early?
I was thinking at least 2030.

Instead of farting around with new stuff, I wish you guys would give us what's been promised to us for a number of years now, server-side spam filtering.

Only if you can opt-out of it. I'd rather determine myself what is spam since I already get good messages marked as spam and bad messages not marked as spam. I don't need HR making me lose good emails.

Same here. I get next to zero spam.

I'll be in my late 40s and retired by then.

Retired in your late 40's? Sounds nice to me!

Must be nice working for HR getting paid that much.. I'm glad my hosting money is going to something worthwhile, like your retirement fund..

I'm guessing VT=virtual & Unlimited = dedicated server (meaning unlimeted to what scripts you use) Like "Virtuozzo" (http://www.sw-soft.com/products/virtuozzo).
I'm probally way off, but then my question is to Hostrocket..Do you have plans to intruduce virtual dedicated servers any time in the near future?
Thanks

I get next to zero spam.
Me neither. I can't remember any spam I've gotten from a hostrocket account.

Same here. I get next to zero spam.
I'm here at HostRocket because another host, famous for their registration service, who I'll just call NS, almost put our company out of business within one month that way. We'd get 100% of our form mail, then within 24 hours we'd get 50%, soon only 10%, then 1%. They'd reset it and we'd repeat the process. Reset and repeat. Reset and repeat. The fifth service ticket on that spam filter is still open, but our site is now here at HostRocket and we're back in business after a month-long nightmare. No server side spam filters please!!

If it is that, it probably wouldn't cost money...

 If it is that, it probably wouldn't cost money...
You guys can consider this another clue. VT_Unlimited does not have anything to do with spam filtering.

Virtual Telephone_Unlimited
This type of new technology, otherwise known as Voice Over IP Service, has allowed those to establish a normal telephone number anywhere in the country. When dialed it rings the telephone attached to a laptop anywhere in the world.
Cost of service is lower than what you would expect to see through the telephone, even though a recent search shows Verizon has the service at double the price:

If this is what HR is launching, then HR can very well be another AT&T. :)

SWEET! Free phone! :D I use Skype sometimes and it has a PC-to-phone function too.

VOIP crossed my mind, but it never really did hit me as a viable option in this case. Now that someone else has mentioned it, VOIP sound quite reasonable. It would be interesting to see if that is what HR is up to. Maybe they will tell us what it is when we guess it. ;)

VoIP? Nah.
Not to say I know what it is or have even the slightest clue. I just can't imagine HostRocket going into telephone.
I don't think it is Virtual Telephone_Unlimited because it is Via TSomething_Unlimited.
But I do think it has something to do with talking..

KLH,
A somewhat off-topic question: Can you please point me in the right direction to locating the code I need to insert the same IP Address graphic you are using in your Signature? I won't be using it here, but the forum admins at our site could certainly use what you have.
I appreciate it,
David

It's just a PHP script that uses some $_SERVER variables to create an image via GD.
If your forum admins are just looking for that information, much easier to write a script that grabs that info than having to rely on an image. ;)

Of course there are other easier ways to find out your own IP, ISP, OS, and browser, but if they're trying to figure out what OTHER people are using, that script won't work....

Did I win something for posting correctly what VT Unlimited would be? :)
March 15th link:

Here is the email I received today:
Welcome to VT_Unlimited, the exclusive pre-launch group for ViaTalk,
HostRocket’s new VoIP (Voice over IP) service!
Today the VT_Unlimited list will be closed to public subscription.
You’re a part of VT_Unlimited because you’re smart enough to recognize an
opportunity when you see one.
In your member area, you will find a coupon code. When the service
launches, you will be able to use this coupon for free VoIP service. Some coupons
are good for 2 months of free service, some are good for more, and some
are even good for 12. In addition to free service, some lucky winners are
going to get $100 in free equipment. While they may be good for different
things, all coupon codes are good for something.
When the ViaTalk service launches in May, you’ll have access to it
before the general public. At that point, you can also determine the value of
and use your coupon. In addition to free service and pre-launch access, you
also have access to a number of other benefits including free shipping and
a chance to win great prizes including Apple iPods upon launch.
The benefits of VT_Unlimited membership are great, but we want to give you
a chance to how what a good friend you are. In addition to the coupon code
in the member area, you’ll find a limited number of viaVites which you
can send to friends to invite them to VT_Unlimited. They’ll have access
to all the same benefits that you’re going to enjoy.
You’ll be receiving an e-mail shortly with more information about
viaVites and the VT_Unlimited member’s area. Follow the instructions in that
e-mail to activate your account.
Once again, welcome to VT_Unlimited and the future of VoIP communications!
Thanks,
The Team at ViaTalk
