I'm in the process of switching to the new control panel, downloading my site right now as we speak.

I need to know if the free subdomains come with their own FTP accounts, so I can host sites with them. I need FTP accounts for subdomains so I can let my hosted sites use them for updating.

The new subdomains unfortunatley do not come with user FTP usernames/passes. They are draw out of your main account, and use the master account password.

Just create an FTP account with the same username as the subdomain and that user will be limited to the subdomain's directory.

Is it possible to have one FTP account to have access to the subdomains ONLY?

You see, since hostrocket gives 3 FTP accounts, and 10 subdomains, it's very hard to manage.

Or, can I get more FTP accounts, than just the 3?

Hi,

You can also access the subdomains from your main FTP account... they each have a directory inside your public_html folder. Do you need them to have a seperate FTP account specifically?

Preferably, I would like to have 1 FTP account to each subdomain. But, with only 3 FTP accounts, it's not possible, so is there anyway, I could have the subdomains go to one FTP account, besides the Main account. I want one FTP account that JUST has access to the subdomains, that's what I'm trying to say.

Hi,

Please send in a trouble ticket about this.

What I don't like about the subdomains is they point to a sub-directory in the root directory. I don't like this, I would prefer to specifically point a subdomain to ANY directory, or even file.

Example: subdomain.yourwebsite.com ---> http://yourwebsite.com/directory/sub-directory/sub-sub-directory/

That way you can point to different sections of your website if you wish.

I would like to know if this is possible? or if at least the subdomain control panel could be modified with a "PATH" option.

Anyway, on to another related topic, having DNS Wildcards and SSI enabled so that one may download a subdomain cgi script.

I had a subdomain script running on the old server (hostrocket's alabanza servers) and it worked just fine. Now it doesn't seem to work on the new servers WHY? This really sucks, I hope it's just a minor problem that can be resolved.

Actually, if Hostrocket could find a GOOD subdomain script (fake subdomains that really work) then they should add it to the control panel. It would be EXCELLENT to have 10 real subdomains and unlimited fake subdomains. They should REALLY consider this option. Unless it's gonna be a problem for the server which I hope not.
