Hi all. I've been using DataGuard on my SCO box @ work mostly to reduce costs (when I dial a remote computer that has DataGuard, it hangs up and automatically calls me back, thus they pay the long distance).....

Unfortunately it's not as reliable as I would like it....
Is there anything out there that is tried and true that I may not be aware of.. I'm a bit out of practice dialing modem to modem.
:freak:

Uh.. not sure if you need specs or anything...
It's SCO to SCO... 56k modem?!?! ... ??? Let me know if you need more info.. :)

Thanks all!

Can you test the reliability with another machine? Its possible that the problem lies with the modem or the lines. Modem connections are notorious for being unstable.

Do the modems have hardware and/or software correction? If they do turn them on.

Are they true modems or software modems (winmodems)? A true hardware based modem is more expensive but does offer far superior performance and reliability.

I am unfamiliar with DataGuard. Is it console or GUI based? Is it a rider/driver style program that simply allows you to use a terminal to do what you need to do?

How can you live with using a SCO box? Sorry for making an offtopic post, but damn.

And DataGuard is GUI based.
