Hi all.
Anyone know why I would be able to access an ftp server via a browser (which pops up the login info) but not be able to do the same thing using command line login info? Thanks.

that makes absolutely no sense to me - I've had issues the other way around though.

Same here.. I've had the same thing the other way around as well.
I tried copying and pasting the username / password, I've used all kinds of ftp switches and ftp commands that may have made sense but no go....
I've contacted the admin and asked them to login from home and send me the line they used to log in...

what FTP software and version are you running? is this a linux system or a windows system, or other? what user name are you trying to log in as? I know some FTP clients are configured NOT to allow login from ROOT, or other administrator names, because FTP protocall does not encrypt passwords. give us more details

I was using ftp available in Kermit 8.0, logging in as a normal user.
As I mentioned I had the admin log in from home and he had no problems logging in. I tried again this morning, and it magically worked.... I tried every way of logging in yesterday... and talked to both admins on my end... so either I was completely off my rocker yesterday or there was something wrong on the admin end that someone is too embarrassed to admit. Oh well alls well that ends well. Thanks for your help peeps.... ;)
