Lol, I've tried this 2 times already and both times it fell thorugh. if your thinking about it be sure to get as many coders as possible. There is a lot more to it than you think, and its hard as hell. But yea, you have fun with that, and be sure to post if you make it ^_^

As for wanting to code a game like outwar via PHP.....Outwar is programmed in PHP so yes it's possible...PHP is pretty darned powerful (although not the quickest)......but as other folks have said.....you'll need exensive experience and time.....and I hate saying this because it sounds so naff but it's true: if you need to ask in which language to program a game, then you're not able to do it.

But nothing stops you from having a good bash :) Best of luck.

Well, I'm creating a simple RPG Mecha game, it is going to suck but oh well. It is something for my site that I have been a while since I done something for my site.

I don't know of OutWar but good luck. If you need help, I have two years of PHP experience but I'm still intermediate or a high level of novice. I work mainly with environment variables and databases, and some other misc things.

If you want to help then send private message but I do want to try out a few things with email. If it is possible, may have to use Perl to access my mail folder but I have actually seen PHP access a folder not in root. Well, what I mean is /home/$user/website/mail and /home/$user/website/$url. Root is actually a step down from where my web site is, so I could prolly access it. I just never had a reason to, that and they may have taken rights away from my other scripts.

Well, you could technically create a Graphics system using GD so the PHP based game in question (read: first post) could perhaps be made to have graphics. The complicated thing is, is that GD doesn't create complicated graphics but it does allow you to work with already created graphics. Templates could be made and then manipulated for the user.

Problem isn't if it could be done since it can but how long it will take for it to be done.

RPG type games are incredibly easy to make its just a matter of taking your time, planning well and have a good game to make.

GD to make an RPG would put huge amount on the server depending on the amount of users playing, Maybe not the best idea but it is of course possible its just a matter on server resources, remember many people play RPG Games so if the game becomes popular you will easily have 100-300 users at a time on the site.
