I've created a new subdomain and a new ftp account with username based on the new subdomain. When I use the control panel - file manager, I can't see any new directory for the subdomain and ftp that I created just now.

But later when I use ftp to log in, I see one cgi-bin directory inside, while this directory was actually couldn't be found if we use the file manager instead.

So I wonder, is it normal? does this mean that we only can use the file manager to access the main account, not a sub-domain account?

The reason I do this is I plan to create a subdomain and separate ftp account for my friend, so that he can have his site hosted under my domain.

Thanks in advance to anybody that can give me a clearer picture for this complicated subdomain - ftp stuff.

IF you created a sub-domain called exentric.yourdomain.com

then the dir exentric will be the dir of the sub-domain

So your friend should upload his files to the dir with the sub-domain name if subdomain: exentric so upload files to dir : exentric
