First and foremost, this position will focus on all performance and scalability aspects of the company’s applications and tools. This might include prototyping various designs for benchmarking purposes.
The senior software architect is responsible for all aspects pertaining to the design, development and maintenance of Company’s core products and tools. The software architects assist/perform tasks of designing, developing, implementing, testing and maintaining systems/application software which satisfy both Company’s clients and internal business processes and strategy. The Software Architect supports the Company user community by troubleshooting problems pertaining to the software and suggesting alternative technology/software through research and the proper evaluation procedure. The Software Architect prepares the appropriate support documentation such as, application specifications, program embedded comments and documentation. The Software Architect is a key member of the technical team that develops and manages Company’s intellectual capital. We expect this person to be SENIOR level in his knowledge and experience, as it relates to J2EE performance and architecture.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Performance · Experience with all avenues of performance coding, testing, and fine-tuning in J2EE architectures. · Ability to quickly grasp underlying performance issues and design solutions for those issues. · Ability to review and refactor J2EE code for optimal performance. · Knowledge and experience in fine tuning applications to run on specific application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere) · Knowledge of and experience with Toplink persistence implementations and how it relates to performance. · Knowledge of and experience with ILOG rules engine implementations and how it relates to performance. · Experience using profiling tools (Jprobe, TrueTime) and performance testing tools (Load runner) in order to design and implement solutions to performance issues and problems. Architecture · Experience with architecting and designing modules and/or applications in a J2EE environment · Experience with Java design and coding patterns, and best practice java coding. · Good working knowledge of at least 2 of the following applications servers: BEA Weblogic, IBM Websphere, JBOSS · Knowledge of and experience with Toplink persistence implementations. · Knowledge of and experience with ILOG rules engine implementations is a plus. Programming and Development · Excellent object-oriented design and programming experience (JAVA, J2EE); · Solid understanding and demonstrable programming experience with most J2EE concepts, including Servlets, JSP, EJB, JMS, JDBC, etc. · Solid understanding and programming experience with SQL programming and relational databases, including Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server. · Solid working experience with XML related technologies, including XML, XSLT, SAX, DOM, etc…. · Understanding of visual basic programming concepts and language · Excellent working knowledge of Unix and windows operating systems. · General Internet programming and knowledge (e.g., HTML, HTTP, CGI, PERL, etc.); · Solid understanding of source code control (CVS, Source Safe), Build related tools (ANT), and unit testing tools (JUNIT, etc.) · Experience in software release methodology and software life cycles. · Experience writing software design and application specification documents; Other Skills · Diagnostic interviewing and listening skills and experience; · Strong personal motivation and excellent work ethic and attitude. · Experience leading and mentoring team members in developing solutions · Strong presentation skills; Excellent written and verbal skills. · Experience with developing user documentation and training employees. · Experience in quality assurance (QA) techniques and issues, performance testing, and java profiling tools. · Experience in the Warranty arena is a plus.
