View Full Version : Dev C++ Problem
I tried to do the following...
#include <iostream.h>
// THIS IS MY FIRST PROGRAM
int main()
{
cout<<"Hello World!";
return 0;
}
Unfortunately, It won't let me compile it. Did I make a mistake somewhere?
#include <iostream>
#include <stdlib.h>
main()
{
cout<<"Hello World!";
return 0;
}
--
this version runs fine
Doesnt work... says "unable to run program file". It wont compile or run the program.
did you create a new c++ project. Then save it and then compile it?..cause it works for me!

i agree ides usually complicate an already complicated task when someone just starts coding. notepad/vim whatever and the compiler are all anyone needs unless they are making a larger project(which is what ides are for)

what version of DevC++ do you have?
you need to make sure you have the stable version (version 4). version 5 is BETA and buggy.

You may have the beta version of Dev C++ 5.0 because i have 4.0 and it works fine...also you might have a very early version. One of the earlier versions of Dev C++ requires that u have int main(int argc, char *argv[]) instead of int main(). Try that. If that doesn't work then you might be missing some kind of library file for the program. I saw a Dev C++ download that was like a trial sort of thing and it didn't even have the compiler feature! The file might also be corrupted somehow.

DNAunion2000: Try adding the following statement after #include <iostream.h> and before int main().
using std::cout;

PS: Looks like someone else already suggested just about the same thing.

ok buddy, thanks for your reply. But what's GUI IDE's !?
Also, how to you find gcc 2.3?
why do you want such an old version?
Programm3r
08-23-2003, 02:58 PM
it might be gcc 3.2 !!!!!!!!
Forget that; what about GUI IDE's ?
GUI = Graphical User Interface, rather than a command line compilor.
IDE == Integrated Devlopment Environment

Hacking is easier than programming, and i'm a really good programmer.;) This is nothing more than a promotion of piracy, and I don't think that it's appropriate for this website. For that matter, piracy isn't appropriate anywhere.
There is plenty of free software (both free as in Freedom and free as in beer) that you can get in lieu of non-free software. Dev-C++ happens to be both free as in Freedom (it's under the best Free Software license, arguably, the GPL), and free as in beer. There is no reason for piracy. Besides, isn't it nicer to uphold a system that gives the consumer rights rather than take them away (something that most commercial software does)?

Look, i don't want to download it, without knowing in advance how it looks like!
Don't attach an image now,attach it later, when you won't be that busy ( iy will take you 3 minutes.. )!
Or, do you know a site that has screenshoots about the enviroment of that compiler?

As sans-hubris already mentioned, this is a place for constructive participation and not a place to violate any laws or to discuss illegal activities. This includes but is not limited to advocating or asking for information regarding software piracy.
