I have been using .net for a couple months now at school and the school gave me a copy of it but i hate XP is there any way to get around using it and running .net in windows ME?

you could probably figure out a way to do it, but i imagine vb.net is a resource hog (since most IDE's are).

but you should SERIOUSLY think about getting away from ME, it's the worst version of windows EVER.

install linux and look into Mono! It's the .NET platform for linux. :) :) :)

But yeah, I agree with inked man. I had ME for a week and it was the flakiest OS I've ever used.

You didn't mention if you just want to use the .NET platform, or if you want to use Visual Studio .NET. Dunno if that even makes a difference.

I only need visual studio .net but i don't think it matters either way. I only use ME because its the last version of windows that runs most games. And xp gives me nothing but problems.

why does XP give you problems....aside from windows 2000 XP is the most stablest, memory effecient OS from MS around... the framework works well in ME...as for VS.NET..install it on either XP or windows 2000.....

Yeah, seriously, don't use ME... XP Pro is a great OS and if you're going to be using VS.NET, you should be using XP Pro...

Windows ME is the shame of shame when it comes to Microsoft OS's. Get a real OS like win2k, XP is good too but I prefer 2k. You could also look into linux as well...

I agree with everyone else. As much as I hate XP, I'd use it over ME. Personally, I would rather use Win2k over any other version of Windows. Although, I'd rather use Linux over Windows. I have to use Windows, so I have Win2k running under VMWare under Linux.
