hehehe opps, i was so excited i forgot
well i had this problem with xlib where i needed to save an area that is overwritten and then draw it back when i need to and i finally figured out how :). maybe not the best thing to be happy about but... WOOT FOR ME!!
Oh, you're writing a program for x directly? interesting. I did a very little bit with that a few years back...

yeah i started learning xlib off and on about a year ago and its really not that tough, just takes alot of code to do something that would take say one or two lines in gtk or qt.
do you have any good online sources of documentation?

this place (http://capderec.udg.es:81/ebt-bin/nph-dweb/dynaweb/SGI_Developer/XLib_PG/) has the entire xlib programming manual online(as well as a bunch of other books), i started using this when i first started but decided to just get the books myself from oreilly and got the xlib reference manual too(both are totally excellent)
