New hardware

I just got a new mobo, and 512 MB of SDRAM!!! On top of all that, I got an NVidia TNT2 Riva!! Yeah, I know, compared to some of your computers, this is probably ancient. The only thing that didn't change was my dual Pentium II 300 processors, hard drive (although, now I can actually get it to run at its full Ultra ATA 100 speed), NIC, and my sucky monitor (don't have the cash to get a new one now.)

Incredibly, this has sped up my computer quite a bit. KDE2 is actually FAST!!! (notice, I'm still running only KDE2, I have yet to upgrade to KDE3)

I'm happy now!:D

New computer:
Dual Pentium II 300 (no change here)
512 MB SDRAM (actual DIMMs)
40 GB Maxtor Udma100 hard drive (running at full 30 MB/s speed now)
NVidia TNT2 Riva w/32 MB video RAM

PS I should mention what I upgraded from:
Dual Pentium II 300
196 MB SIMMs (various types, not sure exactly what types)
ATI Rage II GT w/4 MB video ram (and this was just PCI too)
40 GB Maxtor was only running at about 12 MB/s :p

Cool. I've gotta make time this month to go up to DC; a couple friends of mine are holding on to a ton of hardware for me that their respective companies were just gonna throw away. I don't know what I'm gonna do with all of it, but I do know I'm gonna have fun with it.

- 2 30gb hdd's (maxtor, and a seagate - i think)
- Creative CDRW 8x4x32x
- a POS CD-ROM that is now broken

- some Creative soundcard who's name i can't remember

Yeez, I'm feeling already outdated and I'm running a

MSI KT7pro W/ Raid , AMD T-bird 1000 , 512 Mb DDR RAM, IBM 60-GXP 80 Gb And IBM 60-GXP 60 Gb striped in Raid, Nvidia Geforce 2 (i think it's an ultra, but I'm not sure (use to have Ati Radeon, 32 Mb DDR but 'kept going AWOL on me.)

I'm posting this from a PIII-700 laptop with 256MB RAM, which I don't use that often.

My main system is a PII-400 with 196MB RAM with some on-board ATI Rage Pro, heh. I run Blackbox though, and all I do is code, so I don't mind.

I am getting a new box next week or so though, a Pentium IV 2GHZ, albeit with a GeForce4-MX. :)
