Just wanted to say "Hi". KMJ pointed me to this forum and suggested I give it a try.

I'm a professional Java Programmer and I'm usually happy to answer whatever Java questions I can.

Take care.

I just noticed that Java/Javascript is listed under the "Web" group. Interesting. While Java is certainly a very good web service language (via JSP & Servlets) It's also quite a good application language.

Not complaining, I just thought it was odd that Java is listed as a "web" language.

I think that's cause they grouped JavaScript in with Java. Silly people. Oh, hi, I'm Fireman, I'm a PHP guy who's learning Java so I can use it for the large scale Multiplayer Match Management System I'm developing.

hey there. I grouped it into web programming because I can't have it in two catagories. I may move it up assuming people start using this forum, as these are the first posts in here. Basically, if there is demand for a language on the forums I will certianly create a seperate forum just for that language.

Hope that helps you understand my reasoning ;)

Ah, I see. Well, my suggestion would be to leave "JavaScript" here in the web forum, and create a new forum in the coding languages area called "Java". Since Javascript is run from within the browser I think it's realistic to leave it under Web.

However, Java, and Javascript really have almost nothing to do with each other except for an unfortunate name simularity. ;) Javascript was attempting to ride on the coat tails of Java's popularity back when Java was the new, hip, cool language that was going to take over the world. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, I have created the java forum and moved all posts relating to the language into the Java forum.
