The computer world is changing rapidly. It seems like if you do not upgrade your computer system within 6 months, your computer is outdated and within a year it will be obsolete or so it seems that way. I just finished upgrading my system only to find out that I will need to upgrade once more to be able to play new games such as Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2 that will be coming out. The next upgrade I will do to my system will be around X-mas time and I’m just wondering what you guys think what specs on my computer should I upgrade. Here is my current system spec:

-Windows XP Professional SP2
-Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
-AMD Athlon 3200+ XP Barton @ 400 FSB
-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB
-1024 MB (two 512 sticks) of 333 Ram
-Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
-Creative MegaWorks 250D-THX

I’m a heavy gamer and right now I’m running Battlefield Vietnam fine without any problems. I have all my settings on high and everything runs smooth and the graphics are nice looking. I say why should you upgrade your computer when you run everything currently on high and have no problems but the thing is I’m going to get Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2 and I’m just a little worried my system will not run smooth on my current specs. That is why I’m wondering/asking what things should I upgrade. I heard my system is currently better than the average gamer but I know if I don’t upgrade soon, I’ll fall behind the average gamer. If you guys would reply/respond to my post, I’ll appreciate it. I got a hell of a system but I feel it will need a more powerful system for HL2/BF2. ;-)

Faster RAM?

And maybe upgrade Windows for Linux... j/k ;)

You think adding 400 ram instead of using 333 ram will really make a difference? Also I heard somewhere that there will soon be 500 ram.

Actually I think he was referring to the 500 memory you were talking about. And sim I have read about it briefly, it's DDR2 memory so right now there aren't too many motherboards that support it which is why it's not talked about much yet.

If you had to rate my system from a 1 to 10 scale, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, what would you rate it? Also please provide an explantion why you choose that number.

Snake, DD2 is the same thing as PC3700 (500mhz)?
