Hey i have a few fans on my PC, and some of them spin really strange, they spin faster, louder, then they used to and its sorta random.

Anyone ever had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

One problem could be that they are just getting old, and need to be replaced. But most fans are rated for 50,000 hours, so I doubt that would be the problem.

The other problem, which is MUCH more likely, is that you have dust on the fans. This will cause an imbalance on the spinning of the fan, and cause it to vibrate. If your fans run at variable speeds (such as spinning faster when the temperature goes up) then you could only notice the vibration at certain RPM's, thus the randomness.

Solution: Take a look at your fans and use a air canister to blow them off if there is dust.

VENCO is right. Just to give you some more information about the air canisters, you can pick them up at pretty much any office supply store. CVS also carries them (if you have CVS near you).

Thanks guys i will check that out for sure. There might be some dust on them, i don't think they are getting old because my pc is really new. :)

If it's a really new computer you may have variable van controls. For example the power supply on my computer is an Antec True550 which has power connectors specifically for the case fan. These connectors will allow the case fans to be slowed down and sped up depending on the current temperature inside the case. So when the case is cool the fans slow down to reduce system noise and when it's hot due to heavy use it speeds them up again.

Your BIOS probably has a setting to allow you to turn off variable speed fan control if it's bothering you.
