Here is the problem. I have just built my new computer and got it up and working great. Now for the bad news. I had an old Dell XPSR 450 sitting around and I needed to get some of the files off of it. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to get off the files I needed in one trip. Now this is where the problem arises.
For some odd reason, the power button in the front of the machine is not working and I see no other way of turning it on just so I can access the hard drives. My first question is if anyone knows a way to maybe force the power to turn on without using the button in the front? If it can be done, please explain (as in depth as you can get). If it cannot be done, then would it be possible, and, most importantly, safe, for me to load the hard drive into my new computer (given that it has extra space since my new hard drive in that machine is SATA), install the hard drive, extract the data, and then safely remove the hard drive so that Windows XP won't see it the next time I boot up the computer?
