I'm thinking about getting Direcway internet service (through a satellite) because I live where there is no DSL, cable, etc... only a telephone line.
Is Direcway a good idea? It's www.getdway.com
What do you all think?

I hear it is pretty good comparable to any of the other services. Upload speeds are a lot slower than download speeds (as with most connections) and you will experience time-outs in the rain. But of course, it is so much better than dial-up.
I would look around for specials though. The dish and the installation is what will kill you. I have seen specials for the dish and installation for $200 all the way up to Earthlink at $1000. CRAZY!!!
Good luck!
uhsites I am in the same boat as you are in.. I've thought about getting it, but from reading about it, and I know the Radio Shack in my town caries it, and has a test computer where you can use it, it is quite SLOW.
I used it once when it was just barely snowing outside, and it was about 10 x slower than dialup.
Also, you can forget about playing any kind of online game. And I've heard of problems with FTPing. You might want to search for some forums on sataleite internet. One that you can always look at for advice is www.dslreports.com
