Hi, I have a new account here, I purchased my domain name. In an whois search, it shows all of my info. How would I go about it to take my personal info off, and have general contact not be displayed? I notice others have twocows, etc as domain name owners.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Second, besides the stats info by hostrocket, what is a good stats program to use? I want to see where someone comes from, what pages they look at, do they download, etc. I want something with a bit more info thatn what hostrocket provides.
Thanks all
You cannot take off that personal information. HR requires you to have it.
A good stats program is awstats. Search the forums, and you might be able to get it installed.

Thanks a bunch.
How come others do not have their personal info on the domain registration?
Thanks

They didn't register it through HR.
Actually, thinking about it, I think you can get it removed, but you will have to switch domain registeres.

Hmm. So I go from where I purchased it, to somewhere else to host it?
You can tranfser your domain to someone like www.godaddy.com that seems like the number one place that HR users use for their domains.
I think they charge you like $5 or something to do what you are wanting to do. Plus the $10 or so that they charge you to transfer the domain, but that also includes a 1 year extension to your domain, so it's basically free for the transfer.

I had the same experience and moved to www.godaddy.com so I could hide my personal information. They have an option for an extra 9 dollars or so so that your name doesn't show up on the whois. Basically their name shows up instead.
One problem you might have though is that i think you can't change registrars within the first 3 months of having a domain, or something similar.

With Godaddy you can actually edit your info so you don't had to put the full address or an email account that said admin@yoursite.com using their free email forwarding services.
But make sure your acct info with Godaddy is correct so that they can contact you when required and you may not need to pay for any extra.

However, the information must be complete and accurate. So the only way really is to click that option for anonymity.

Yeah, that's what I did 'cuase you can't just make up an address and stuff (it's the law that you have correct information on your domain).
