Are the small computer makers that much better than doing it myself (limited knowledge) or the large guys?

I disagree with that chart. The only thing I see as true that would matter, is that the software bundle costs more. Other than that, no, building would be better, IMHO.

The gaming systems on their website look comparable to other small manufacturers, but a lot more expensive than building yourself.

If you know how to be a member of a forum, you can definately make a computer. It is so simple and now there are tons of websites with step-by-step instructions.

Oh I have no qualms about making my own computer - the computer I use at home every night was assembled by yours-truly. It's just the time thing...

i hate sand. always getting stuck where it doesn't belong, the car ride home from the beach is comparable to break dancing on sand paper, and its hot to walk on. btw, have a blast!

I have to say that sounds damn bogus. Also, I am VERY interested in seeing their prices.

If you buy ALL retail parts your stuff is just going to cost more because you are buying the pretty box :)
