Anyone ever have any problems using Host Rockets Mail server (pop3 that is) Atleast once everyday I can't get my Mail or send it, it either has trouble connecting, or bounces my message back.
Hrmmm... And it's only Pop3 i have the problem with, squirell mail works fine... But i use OutLook and Thunderbird(mozzila's email client in linux) and both do the same....
Any idea's or is this a plagueing problem ?

I have the same problem. Maybe not once a day, but several times a week.

Well, I had a bunch of email drop into a black hole today, so something was fully broken.

If you look on the left side of this screen (do you notice things are a little more to the right tonight then usual?), it says:
Server Status:
There is currently an email delay of a 1 - 2 hours and we are working as quickly as possible to get this resolved. For more information please see http://www.cert.org/incident_notes/IN-2004-01.html All other servers are up and running 100%
That is probably what happened today. Our company had to shut down their mailing lists for 24 hours cause of this virus.

This would explain todays possibly, but this has been happening to me since day 1... around 9 months ago when I first signed up ;)

For some reason, my ISP did something to their mail servers, and dialup servers, and well, ever since they did that, none of my POP3 email accounts work.
With my ISP's email, I can only send email to other subscribers at the same domain name.
With my HR account, I can't send any mail out on, using any kind of possible setting.
So for either email account, I have to use web based to send any email. I really need to contact them and ask them whats going on, but I am lazy.. Usually they always get mad when I email them about anything.. All the more reason to switch, which I might be doing in the month(s) to come.

My e-mail is working for me. However, look to the left:

Yeah, I saw that... But this has been happening to me since last summer when I signed up.... Do you send attachments alot, they always bomb out, have to send them twice usually, server just bounces them back at me....

I use e-mail a lot in my work, and delays are pretty inevitable. People think e-mail is always instantaneous, and it isn't. I mean, you would THINK it would be instantaneous, but bottlenecks build up all over the place. I have not found hostrocket's any slower on average than other mail servers I have used, btw.

Yes I agree, from working in an office that uses E-mail like instant messaging practically, I understand delays. But i get alot of bounces, which email is prone to, but not to this magnitude. Thats like sending your rent paycheck 5 times, hoping they get and cash just one :D
I was thinking it was me, or my connection, but my laptop on 2 os's and 2 connections always does this too me... I dunno, guess i'll have to throw on the ole' Dr. Watson cap???

I hate virusses which cause a strain on the email servers. Everyone is affected. :(

Yet the retards that write these never think about that. And I'd bet on slashdot alot of these retards bitch about bandwidth and problems, some of which they cause.... People forget if you pee in the pond cuz you think someone will swim in your pee, you got a good chance of drinking it yourself someday....:p

(well we all know modern purifying tek's would take care of this, but hey, it's a proverb i just created so cut it some slack....)

I personally think that people who abuse e-mail, like spammers and virus writers and such, should be sent to the Gulag for a few years. ;)

I have no problem with that. Another peev with them, is they defend themselves. They say SPAM is their business and lively hood. Well when you start clogging the internet, and my email either boucnes, or gets delayed, you start messing with my occupation and job. When my messages don't get through, then I have problems.... Doctors can't shoot people just to get a paycheck, you can't clog the internet and then say it's okay, your doing your job, when it effects others. OUch, what a rant... but spam drives me f'n crazy....
