So I currently have the GigaSale plan for my hosting. I have my forums hosted (Invision) on another server, but I'm looking to put it on the same server as my site, but converting it to a vBulletin board. Anyhow, I was wondering how many connections is acceptable for the servers on the various plans. My board usually has 10 - 20 users for most hours of the day. So how many users at the same time can I expect for the GigaSale plan? The exec plan? The corporate plan?

I believe it's like a million a month or something.

I don't think 10-20 for all hours of the day would be a problem. It's more a heavy surge at once instead of evenly spread out that causes the problems I think.

hmm... well between both of my servers I'm paying $25/month, and after I made this thread I noticed that there's a rackfast dedicated server for $49/month so... I suppose if I don't want to have to worry at all, that would be the way to go, eh?

Wow, thats a pretty good deal!
They must have recently added those to the list, because I don't think they were there the last time I looked..

After I posted that, I went back and found it, and edited my post, but the page I was looking at was http://www.rackfast.com/hosting/index.htm which has several good deals..

What I wonder about Rackfast is this: If you do not pay for CPanel every month, how do you modify accounts?

I don't think there is a way to modifity accounts, that is why they want you to buy the cpanal service..
All you get is just a webserver, or well, anything you want on the server, since it is yours to do with how you want.
It is your job to set up accounts if you are reselling, and figure out how to limit their access, etc..

oh... well that's kinda lame :/

No, that's what the idea is for. Most of my friends who have dedicated servers don't want that kind of crap.

However, doesn't HR have dedicated and those come with CPanel and stuff, right?

This is where some support person should chime in and set the record straight :)

They offer Cpanel, but it is $49.95/MONTH

That's quite a bit, since that is how much the server costs to rent from them.

Ouch, that's a lot. Better to install a free alternative yourself...

Is that for only one account or for as many accounts as you have on that server?

I THINK that is for as many accounts as you want, but I have NO clue. Subit a TT if you really want to know.
