I was thinking about buying another hard drive and was considering trying SATA out. I want 120GB or larger. Does anyone here have the NF7-S or similar Abit boards and have used SATA?

I don't. :)

LOL. okay - sorry.

But as I was going to sya - I've heard SATA ain't that great. (or as 'good' as its hyped to be)

so stick with scsi or ide (there are some sick 8mb cache drives out there with like seek times faster than my brain.. but that wouldn't take much.. would it)

Update: I'm retarded. :b. Anyways. I don't know what I'm talking about.

I hear SATA is MUCH faster (like, you can really notice it)...

But that wasn't your question and I have no clue what board I have, so...

I don't have it personally, but I've heard nothing but good things about SATA.

I've heard nothing but good things about it. Seagate is already making an SATA 7200rpm Barracuda(200GB). On the SerialATA.org site it says 1.5Gbps(150mb/sec) speeds are possible.

Also check this out:

What is the long-term road map for Serial ATA?
Serial ATA defines a roadmap starting at 1.5 gigabits per second (equivalent to a data rate of 150MB/s) and migrating to 3.0 gigabits per second (300 MB/s), then to 6.0 gigabits per second (600 MB/s). This roadmap supports up to 10 years of storage evolution, based on historical trends.

You can learn more about it by going to www.serialata.org.

Erm, yeah I guess I'll go with SATA too! 8b

Only thing I'm scared of is not having enough connectors.

Many SATA HD's come with a PCI cards for hooking it up since most mother boards don't have SATA support.

Thus limiting you to the speed of the PCI bus, but I suppose it's good to have until supporting mobos are more prevelant.
