Server filled with gremlins?

Whatever, if has caused me nothing but trouble from the outset. And I have another 'priority' TT that HR are dragging their heals over.

I am begining to think that the server is in the basement, in the dark, in a cage with notices about not to enter alone, etc.

Joking aside this is getting silly.

TT 121911. Hah. 911. Call out SWAT or something.

Okay, what is wrong with the server, and are you sure it is something that you didn't do?

No I am not sure. It could be the wetware. Often is.

Attempting to use the SSL results in a 'unexpected termination' of the connection.

I have just received confirmation - Server 17 is in fact, from hell. Here's photographic proof:

Heh. Nice.

Unfortunately it is getting beyond the point I can make light of the situation.

I guess it is sod's law that the first time I really need HR to be on the ball and efficient.... they drop the ball.

I am getting irritated.

I can tolerate delays where I have the luxury of time but this is not the case this time.

HR's seeming reluctance has thus far cost me the best part of $300 in early completion bonus, the confidence of my client and lets not forget the 20min international phone call.

On balance HR are wonderful. But this time they really need to get their act together. There is only one way to describe this service: bad.

It is uncharacteristic and thus very disappointing.

Considering how good HR are the rest of the time it is hard to credit just how badly they have managed my problems.

Maybe they will get around to resolving my problems in the next week or so. I just hope it's in this calendar year.

That was a joke btw. I actually needed a working server a week ago. So, as our cousins across the pond might say, fix it already!

Alternatively in the parlance (as I understand it) of the US military, we are well past snafu & tarfu and now edging into fubar.

It's sorted now...

I forget though, that changing the URL, the domain, would cause problems for session variables.

Duh.

How so?

I am by no means expert but by having a different (virtual) server, the session information is held in a different location(?) or else is keyed differently to reduce the possibility of session hijacking.

I am sure someone around here can give a more erudite explanation.

I resolved the problem by ensuring my session is started on the secure server. This is actually better from a security perspective I think...

Oh, I see what you meant. I thought you were moving like a file from your old server & domain to a new one.

Yeah, sessions are per server (and perhaps via domain - not sure - try it - http://hostXX.... & your domain).
