I'm considering getting into game development. I have an idea that could go a long way but I definately don't have the team of individuals to pull it off with.

I can do graphics decently, meshes/skins, whatnot. Coding is definately not my strong point..

Think 3d Transport Tycoon..

Well - yeah. Me and a few friends have been slowly developing it but we have an ODD feeling that there is a company racing against us and I'm sure they have about 40 developers behind it.

We of course have 3.

Could it be maxis or infogrames that's racing you?

Any game with "tycoon" in it to me sounds inspired by infogrames (which got it's inspiration from maxis, in my opinion)
