View Full Version : If I get one new game this year, what should it be?

I usually only have time for about one game a season, if not longer. I played Halo and I like it, but it's kinda like most other FPS's. Right now Prince of Persia is what i'm leaning towards, but is there another game that's gonna peak my interest?
I got Black & White a couple years ago which was really fun, but I spent like 4 hours a day playing it - just took too long to complete any task.

Half-Life 2. No contest.

Why?

"Why?"
Largely because of what people who have played it are saying already. The first Half life was great. Even if they just made another game with the same graphics engine it would be a top seller. But when you add in the cutting edge graphics it gets hard to pass by.
Plus I have an ATI 9800 card that has been waiting impatiently for the game to come out.
I'm sure other games will come out that will be great. But too often the hype doesn't match up with the finished product. But people have actually played this game. And been amazed. I'm tired of the hype. Dues Ex 2 was such a letdown.

That's true - the graphics in the first one were first-rate. For some reason it always seemed to make me nauseous though. So does Unreal, now that I mention it.
I hate that!

Halo 2, not because it is so great, but because everyone I know liked the first one so it will be easy to find people to play the new one.

Well I am just sad that game isn't Deus Ex 2, the first one was so amazing, but the second one which just came out was well...
yeah. :(

Battlefield Vietnam? That sounds cool. What is RTS?

Prince of Persia was awefully fun. Between it and Grand Theft Auto Vice City, they ate up my entire Christmas vacation.
I have high hopes for Half Life 2, but I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket on games that haven't even been played by people outside of the studio yet. Yes, they've "shown" it at conferences like E3, but they haven't let outsiders play it yet. I'm looking forward to trying it, but I won't give it game of the year until I've actually played it.
Battlefield 1942 is kinda fun too. But it's pretty much only a multiplayer game. If you like multiplayer games it's one of better ones. But personally I prefer single player, so it didn't hold me as much as it held some of my other friends.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. A ton of fun, single player of multi.
My favorite game at the moment is Savage. It's the best RTS/FPS combo game released yet, and is a blast to play with a group of players you know.
That and yes, we're all awaiting the Half Life 2 release... ;)
