BattleField 1942 - The best game ever!

Hey. It was just christmas and I recieve a present from my grandma. It's a new game called Battlefield 1942. I just installed it and it's a sweet game. Who else has this game? Its definitly a fun game, especially when your playing against a huge group of people you know. The single player gets quite boring quickly, but if you like online first person shooters it is definitly up there on the list of the greats.

I cant remember any of the servers I used to play on, but you should be able to find games from within the game itself, or by using programs such as gamespy

yeah, the desert combat mod is a great addition to the game. Bringing all of the weapons and vehicles into a more modern day theme.

I've never gone back to plain old BF1942 since I installed DC. Such an awesome game.

Ya no wat looks awesome is the new Battle Field 1942 Vietnam addon. That looks like its gonna be the next advanced game.

First off, it's not an addon. EOD is a BF mod that's an addon, perhaps you were thinking of that.

Anyway, BF V is a seperate game that is based on BF1942's engine, but with some improvements (allowing for grass and flames are among the many improvments).

It should be interesting, but I'm more interested in seeing if the DC teams adapts their mod to work with the newly modified engine.

Maybe I should elaborate:

The first camera angle is underwater, and you're thinking day at the beach... then the camera comes above water and it's a freakin war. The guy you're looking at is between two navy ships getting dive bombed by some old prop fighters.

Command and Conquer maybe?

The only major problem I have with BF1942 is the team-issues. If I get into an airplane someone else might have wanted they will shoot you down when they are ON MY TEAM.

Also, they should improve the walking on boats, it's a bit odd currently.

That's why playing on your own server and having admin is handy. ;)

And how does someone afford to host this game, if you have a reasonable sized game the upstream is crazy. 7mb/s for 32 I believe, or maybe that was for 64 people.

My clan has a rack at a server company and it costs us a few hundred a month. We each chip in $10/month and it covers it.

The Silent Heros server runs off a guy's server that is at his work. :D It's his test server and when ever he's not there using it, it's running a game of BF. ;)
