What is your favorite game of all time, for any system, ever?

Secret of Mana for the Super NES, an action-rpg that allowed up to three players to play simultaneously. Nothing tops that.

Oh, good call!

If only the sequel wasn't a complete let down :(

Oh, and of course, Doom! And Castle Wolfenstein.

This shouldnt even be questioned without a doubt. The best game ever is Mario Bro.s. THE VERY ORIGINAL. Just hearing the theme song brings a team to my eyes.

Zedla: Link to the Past - Best Overall Game
NBA Live - Best Sports Series
Quake II - Best First Person Shooter
Battlezone - Best Revival Of A Classic
Rampage - Best Classic Game

I think Homeworld for PC for me. It had good graphics (at the time), good soundtrack and good storyline.

Ahh! rampage definately wooped some booty.

Dragon warrior would have to be my fav. (contra is right up there with it though)

and as for now.. battlefield or savage.. I don't have a copy of savage yet so maybe when I get it more it'll bore me or kick some more butt.

Only played it for half hour at a lan party. Anyone else got it and like it?

Chrono Trigger - SNES

The best RPG Square ever made.

See yet another game that was great, but had a lack luster sequel.

I just don't understand this, do game companies get focus groups, ask them what they want and then make sure they NOT do that in their games?

I used to play a game called Xevious on an arcade machine, it became this big competition to get the highest score. I once made it, then the next guy beat me. :( I later got it on Playstation, and it never again gave me the same rush, but I still have real fond memories of it. :)

What WAS the difference between Ms. Pac Man and Pac Man? (besides the obvious) Just that bow? Or was the game significantly different?

Winston

THe boards were different if I remember correctly. Ms. Pac Man was more exciting and had those Pac Man love scenes in between every 2 boards, lol. I think Ms. Pac Man was a little faster paced and more colorful and had more exciting boards to use then Pac Man did!! That is of course besides the little red bow!

Pong is one of my favorite classics.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was an incredible game aswell. And Metriod Prime is another excellent comeback for the Metroid fans.

My faves are a 3 way split:

Civilization 2
Master of Orion 2
Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight

Those are definately my favorites of all time, but which one is the number one choice changes nearly daily.

Quake 2, no doubt about it

Ive played it for hours and hours and never grew tired of it
especially the CTF and Jailbreak mod

i just stopped playing it when ppl moved on to other games. sad day when that happened else i would still be playing it :(

Now its just star wars galaxies for me coz i play it with a bunch of friends but its not half as much fun as i had with Q2

Oh, peer pressure in the gaming world lol. I usually avoid that, but I'm playing online more than I used to and it's hard to do that when all your friends move on to that hot new game. ;)

I loved Starcraft. Every once in awhile I get a craving to play that against people online at Battle.Net.. What a great game it is though!

I've always disliked those type of racing games.. I give them a try every so often.. but they just don't appeal.. even though I used to play this one game.. for hours on end back when I was about 7

called indy 500..

think lots of pixelated cars.. it was nice.. and parts of your car could break off when you crash and whatnot..

most advanced game for its time.. back in pixel-ate-d-land :b

I have gotten into the flight-simulator games recently for some reason. They keep getting better and better, I always wanted to learn to fly. :)

I think racing games have come along way to the point where they are a lot of fun. I've been playing NFS Underground and while i'm not a huge fan of all the cars, the driving is very realistic. I don't place racing games a lot because I have to be in a certain mood to play them.

One game I've gotten into is Tiger Woods 2004. Closest thing to golf while I wait for warmer weather.

vanselus

Racing games sure have come a long way - but now some of them are TOO realistic. I don't want to practice for 6 months just to be able to drive down the freaking track.

There's something to be said for the oldies. My favorite driving games are the original Gran Turismo and Off-Road Rally for the first playstation.

I own NFS 3 through 6 (HP2) and a "borrowed" version of NFS:U (which is strangely addicting, even with the horrible cars).

Racing games and FPS'ers are my favorites and it's such a pity that there aren't more racing games for the PC.

And I agree with van - I like racing games to be realistic to a point. It's more fun if I can actually drive.

NFS:HP2 is probably my favorite racing game to this point, but I see a lot more potential...

How dare you NOT mention Zork - Beyond Zork nor Leather Goddesses of Phobos! Or even Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy?

vanselus

Oh no, what's next - Leisure Suit Larry 13?

(although those games were pretty fun when I was a kid)

I like racing games, but the "feel" just doesn't carry over. I drive by touch as much as I do sight and sound, so I'll never be very good at them.

Viper007Bond
01-23-2004, 04:50 PM
It's the other way around for me. I have yet to put the effort into learning to drive - the gas pedal is too sensitive for my liking (used to mashing the gas) and.. I dunno. I need some arrow keys in my car... :D

Yeah that's true. Even while driving with force feedback sometimes you don't get enough feel for when you're going to slip or crash. Some games even totally ignore force feedback accuracy (or no force feedback at all) and it is always those games in which I perform poorly.

Racing games just aren't worked on enough. The market is in the FPS genre.

Not to mention fear - I never drive better than when i'm being chased by the cops!

In real life or in a game? I can't say either'd surprise me. :)
