Max Payne recieved a 9.2 from Gamespot.com and a 9.3 from IGN.com I wouldnt really say it wasn't well recieved.

maybe you're refering to the console votes..
i dont know.
it's more than likely a personal thing i guess, i haven't anyone else that liked max payne 1. aside from the old max payne community.
another game i like are those MUDs
i havent really played in a couple years.. mud.arctic.org 2700 all the way! :P
text based adventures rock, but no one likes reading or using that "imagination" thing anymore. and of those that do MUD, arctic is too hard for them...
yeah were lookin for games that you liked but noone else did. i cant say i really have one... maybe in the NES era, like Maroo's Mansion haha

Ahh yes, I love a ton of MUDs, they have pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur though, as a great deal of gamers are greatly concerned with graphics nowadays.
I have put more time into the MUD Necromium than I have in any other game, The number of hours is uncountable, but I am sure it surpassed my 500ish hours in Dark Ages of Camelot.

The "Tex Murphy" FMV mysteries. unfortunately, they were so unpopular, that accesssoftware (when they were being bought by microsoft) advised microsoft from continuing the product line.

Max Payne was a pretty decent game. Max Payne 2 basically improved what was wrong in #1. It still doesn't have multiplayer but I'm not sure how you could have a multiplayer max payne game.

lol.. not gonna happen.
no reason for it.
no point in it.
anyway..
about muds: i spent hours and hours setting up a bot that would at least seem human enough, (so's not to get caught using it) just so i wouldn't HAVE to play to level :P
though.. the fun was in the game :)

I loved my old Panzer General II game. Pretty outdated now, but I spent a lot of fun hours playing that. I like those strategy games, still looking for a better one. ;)

my wife still loves ms pac man.
i can't stand it!
My all time favorite PC Games are Lord of the Realm 2 from Sierra and Betrayal at Krondor. Great games. LOTR2 was a great RTS Game, while Betrayal at Krondor was one of the best stories for a RPG i've ever had the fun of playing.
There's a freeware copy of Krondor on the net now, only 7mb for the entire game download (which was huge back in the early 90's wehn it was released. It actually required *gasp* A CD!) Great game to go back and play if your bored.

Kroz was much better! Come on.. how can ega color compete with ascii graphics : your player is a smily face being chased by a bunch of asterisks!
