I bought this game. When they say it is short they mean sort. I guess I compare game length to the 80+ Final Fantasy Games which are my favorite. This one only lasted me about 2 weeks.

That's it??? You puss. Come on, give us the scoop. Isn't there some kind of time travel crap involved?
And am I going to have to spend all my coin on a pimped out system like yours to play it?

Yes, thats it.
You can spend 20k on a new computer but it will never be as good as my system.

Oh great, now you think you're the bomb cause your computer looks like a freakin Lite Brite.

Back in my day, our computer cases were all the same opaque plastic and they didn't light up to the beat! I long for my old TI cassette tape drive.
Now THAT was a machine.

Prince of Persia is definitly an excellent game. I have the PS2 version and loved it.
It is an extremely short game, and the combat can start to get repetitive towards the end, but the platforming is always enjoyable and the puzzles often times take a bit of thinking to figure out.
The positives heavily outweigh the negatives, if you have any interest in platformers, or action-platformers I would highly recommend this game, I cant think of anyone who wouldn't find it enjoyable.

what do you mean by "the platforming"?
Dalfiuss
12-31-2003, 06:19 PM
Platformer is the genre of video/pc game that is based on the task of jumping from 'platform' to 'platform' This genre really started with games like Super Mario Bros. (EDIT: This genre was around well before Super Mario Bros. but Super Mario Bros. really set the standards for the genre)
When I refered to the platforming as being enjoyable I meant that the jumping and puzzles involved in getting from platform to platform was alot of fun.

speaking of platformers then - i got the "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga" for my wife at xmas for her new Gameboy Advance XP - it's fun!
i'm currently playing it more than she is : )
is Prince of Persia a 3d or 2d world game?

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is an amazing game. Quite surprizing. The mix of platforming and RPG elements is great and the fact that the game can appeal to absolutly anyone is also a plus.

I've been wanting to get this game for some time, well I guess I finally have an excuse. :)
Does it have any relation to the earlier games?

Yeah I was shocked too! Not that I hate games or anything, but being 28, I was thinking that I might be a little old for Mario. No way, this is a blast! It's hard enough to be challenging, but not hard enough that you have to play it for hours and hours to get past the 1st level. Games that are too hard are just not fun for me. I don't have the time anymore.
It would be nice if the battle modes were a bit more exciting though.
How difficult is Prince of Persia?

I am not fully sure of the relation, it takes place in many of the same settings, but I dont know more than that.
However, if you do get the game for a console instead of the PC you are given the added bonus of being able to play the original Prince of Persia after completing the game.
i got prince of persia for christmas for GAMECUBE, its an incredible game, the detail in it is amazing

Prince of Persia isn't too difficult. The combat is quite simply, so thats not a problem. The difficulty comes in analyzing situations to figure out how to get to specific platforms, so if you like to look around an area and figure out how to get somewhere, it shouldn't be too difficcult.

That sounds cool. I don't mind the mental complexities at all, that's what makes the game fun. It's when you spend hours and hours just trying to get the techniques down that I can't handle it anymore.

I'm at the first level and I'm already stuck unless there is like a 100 foot jump he can do that I'm not aware of. Oh well, back to call of duty. :)

Yeah, you will never have to spend time on anything other than the platforming puzzles, the game is short and focuses on these puzzles, but every minute is worth it.

Lots of the problems people seem to run into near the beggining is one of two things, either the jump back and forth between two close walls to get to the top of the column, or the run along the wall and when you reach the shadow of a piller jumping off the wall to grab onto the pillar.
Maybe one of those two little hints might help.
yeah i got stuck in an area in the begining, and it turns out i just needed to run across a wall :)

You jump into the game quite quickly, and it gives you a hint of what you need to do the first time you need to do it, but often times it is hard to remember ever little trick you have at your disposal.
