I have a client who has registered several Domain Names and what he would like to do is have one Domain as the main site and if someone was to type in one of the other Domain Names they would automatically get re-directed to the main site. What type of coding would I use to do this and can he just have these other domains parked at where he registered them or does he actually need to have them hosted by someone? I hope I've explained thos correctly for you all, any help is really apreciated! Thanks, Steph

Hi Steph

Not sure if your client is hosted by HR but I think other Hosting companies offer a similar solution. HR offer Domain Parking for a number of domains as well as the original domain which you have hosted.
With HR I believe you transfer point your DNS servers to HR and them submit a TT requesting Domain Parking for your Domain.

Hope this helps!

Hi. What you are describing is referred to as "domain parking". With the Economy Plan HostRocket allows customers to add up to 10 additional parked domains which will all point to the account's main index page.

"What type of coding would I use to do this"

No coding is necessary on your end, just submit a trouble ticket informing HR support what domains you wish to have parked on your account and they'll set this up for you. All you (or the client) will have to do is to change the name servers for the domains to be parked to dns1.hrnoc.net and dns2.hrnoc.net via the domain registrar's website.

If you go that route when submitting your trouble ticket include either your account password or the first 2 and last 4 digits of your credit card number as verification.

"can he just have these other domains parked at where he registered them or does he actually need to have them hosted by someone?"

Provided the domain registrar offers free parking and URL forwarding then yes, just using the registrar's name servers and having requests for the parked domains forwarded to the domain registered at HR would be another possible option.
