I haven't seen any questions about this... I may have over looked them though.
How does one go about configuring the shopping cart that is included in control panel? Are there any detailed instructions out there?
Thanks,
Theresa

There is documentation at:
http://akopia.com/supportserv.html
It can get rough, and you almost have to read the whole kit n' kaboodle to figure out what the hey is going on, but you'll get it. :)
They do have a mailing list, which you'll find info on at the above link, though personally, I have really never gotten much help there on any of my 'newbie' questions. The lurking is great though, I've learned stuff from reading other people's mail.
BTW, the help within the admin was what got me understanding the ins and outs of what all the functions did, make sure you give that a look.
I've vowed to myself that once I have time to breathe for a couple of days between work contracts, I'm really going to delve into it. Keep in touch on the boards, me and flagbrew hook up every now and again on Interchange-keep a look out for us :)
Goodluck!

Ahhh, yet another akopia user. I have beat my head countless times with this one. It is tough, it will suck the life out of someone like me (a relative ignorant web lackee). Here is a good quote from the akopia mailing list.
"You are either someone, who wants to become a professional programmer/web-site architect, who wants to earn the money those other guys are asking you to pay. Or you want simply your own business on the net and are thinking about doing it yourself, because you don't have enough money, but enough time to try it out on your own. Which one is it ?
Now, if it's the first and you want to become a real programmer,DON'T start to look at IC until you have mastered
a. Linux/Unix System Admin (if you want to run your own machines and not pay a consultant to take over the responsibility that you have a secure, mission-critical-proof system running on a level of 98.5 % up-time level and be able to recover your system after a hacking attack).
b. Shell programming
c. Basics of C programming
d. Perl
e. CGI, Apache, SQL
f. html, Javascript, CSS, XHTML, XML"
Discouraging snippet from an article found at http://developer.akopia.com/archive/interchange-users/2001/msg00953.html.
Search this forum for shopping or cart or akopia or interchange, you will have a good chuckle. And if by chance you have an akopia epiphany, tell us about it! Good luck. ;)

PS We got 6 inches of fresh snow on the mountain, interchange can wait, who wants any crappy t-shirts anyway...

I think we out to request an "Akopia User Tips" forum on the board. This way, users can write in their "epiphanies" for other poor souls out there. I'm gonna ask support now :)

LOL! I got started on it again last night, when I installed 3 other shopping carts (wasting a whole day with one), and none of them fit my needs. I am delving in. I'm going to work with HR's install for now.
I did find out how to get subcategories with the same name but different products working from--believe it or not--The Interchange Users List!!! ACK! There actually *are* people there who want to help. Haven't tried it yet to see if it works, if it does, I'll post it in the hopefully now forum area.
