Editing/deleting stuff via FTP

Is there a reason why I cant edit or delete stuff via FTP?

Im on the master account and I cant update my webpage

I use CUTEFTP pro

any ideas?

Hi, John. No, on the face of it there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to update or delete files on your account while signed on via the main/primary FTP account.

Exactly how are you attempting to update your pages (are you trying to upload a newer copy of a page and have it overwrite the existing copy, or...?) and what happens when you try (are you getting an error message of some sort or does the process *appear* to complete successfully yet your changes don't appear when you load the page)?

Just as a general note if you are using Internet Explorer after uploading a new copy of a page make sure to click the Refresh button in IE to make sure that a fresh copy of the page is called from the web rather than an older copy from your browser cache.

When I update the webpages, I use the edit Fuction in cuteFTP.. It normally uploads the new version once its done which means it will overwrite whatever is there..

Ive never run into this type of problem.. I have tried to delete some stuff too and it wont let me do that :(

Hi. If you haven't already done so try editing and/or deleting files using the File Manager in your HR Control Panel. If you can do that successfully I'd proceed forward with the assumption that the problem lies somewhere within CuteFTP. Try going to the CuteFTP Site Manager, delete the existing listing for your HR FTP account, create a new listing and try signing on and modifying or deleting some files.
