I've been looking in to this the past few days.. and just have a few questions. I guess I don't 100% understand how this is supposed to work. Do I have to sell hostrocket hosting? Or can I just put a banner on my website, and get referrals that way?
I was hoping to get some input and advice from those here that do use the affiliate program. Can ya help me out? Please? :)

TIA

Hi. Unlike with reseller programs with affiliate programs one doesn't get involved in selling anything, you simply direct traffic to a seller via banners or hyperlinks and earn a commission should the folks you refer make a purchase.

HR's affiliate program is run through Commission Junction. How it works is you register with CJ and choose from a variety of banner graphics and/or textual links. These banners/links point to a URL at www.qksrv.net which contains your account number. When a visitor to your website clicks on a HR ad banner/link a cookie is placed on their hard drive and they are promptly redirected to hostrocket.com. The qksrv/HR cookie is maintained for up to 45 days so if the user either signs up on the spot or returns to sign up within 45 days (provided they didn't delete the cookie) you get credit for a commission on the sale.

The commission rates can vary. Originally it was $20 per sale and while there seemed to be some confusion as to the rates up until recently (while I had received an email concerning an increase to $27 my account reported an increase from $20 to $25), I currently see a $41 figure referenced at CJ.

Best o' luck!
